How to achieve and maintain optimal health

I want to share with you a few tips on how you can stay healthy or get healthy starting today.

We all want to live a long time don't we? We are living longer but not healthier. My family lives to 100+ years then they just fall over and die. No health issues. Isn't that ideal. I want to be like them.

When we talk about living a long healthy life we are talking about the quality of your life. Healthy lifestyle = Good quality of life. The quality of your life improves greatly if you are healthy. Wouldn't you agree?

Being healthy ensures that you are able to do all of the things you enjoy for as long as you live. Isn't that what we all want. I do and I know you do, too.

So how can we achieve optimal health and maintain it? Here are a few tips:

Last week we spoke about hydration, that is supplying the body with enough cold clear water on a daily basis. Here's why hydrating is very important.

Our bodies are mostly water, over 70%
Our bodies need water to live
Water hydrates every part of your body, especially your brain
Water will flush your body of toxins
Water will lower your blood pressure
Water will plump up your skin. It's a great wrinkle reducer, ladies
It helps digest your food.
Water assists with weight loss..... so hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Every day substitute one glass of water for that can of soda and you're on the right track.

Now, Let's talk about good nutrition because good nutrition is one of the keys to good health.

Good nutrition starts with the first meal of the day, Breakfast. I know what you are going to say. I don't have time to eat breakfast.

Here is my answer to that.....Make time for breakfast you deserve it and your body will thank you for it.

Here is why you need a good breakfast:

You have been fasting all night while you sleep. Just like your car needs fuel to run, your body also needs food (fuel) to do all the important jobs it has to do. Your body is a perfect machine. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Here are some benefits you get when you eat breakfast:
Having breakfast will give you energy
It will brighten your spirit
Keep your blood sugar from spiking
Keep you satisfied so you don't eat junk food
Eating breakfast will help you maintain a healthy weight.

It only take a few minutes to have a nourishing breakfast. Set aside 15 to 20 minutes to have a relaxing, nourishing breakfast.

What does a good nourishing breakfast consist of?

What you choose to eat for breakfast depends on your tastes and diet restrictions. Stay away from sugary cereals and artificial products. My motto is “If it's natural Eat It”

Eggs are a good source of protein. Protein burns very slowly so you will not get hungry for hours. Keep boiled eggs in the refrigerator when you have to eat on the run. Add a piece of toast with butter and that's it, you're good to go.

If you like cereal choose one with no sugar added like Raisin Brand or Cheerios. Add milk and a piece of fruit like a banana. Now you are off to a great start.

Bring your lunch to work. Make it the night before. Then after breakfast grab your bag and go.

Have a balanced meal for dinner which includes:

Green Vegetables
Carbohydrate (Rice, Potatoes etc)
Protein (lean meat, fish, chicken)
Don't forget to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Drink a glass of water before each meal and you will eat less

It's never to late to get healthy

Do you have a pharmaceutical deficiency?

Sounds like a silly question doesn't it.
It's not as silly as you may think.

Every day we are bombarded with commercials about one drug or another that promises to cure whatever condition you may have or think you have. But have you ever really listened to these commercials, I mean, really listen?

If you listen carefully you will wonder why anyone in there right mind would jeopardize their health by taking these drugs. In most cases the cure is much worse than the disease.

One popular drug for Arthritis has the following side effects and more:
mouth sores
rash
diarrhea
blood count abnormalities
cirrhosis of liver (rare)
persistent cough
unexplained shortness of breath
hair loss (gradual)

Another drug has the following common side effects:
Upper respiratory tract infection, nausea, abnormal liver tests, redness at site of injection, high blood pressure, bronchitis, dizziness, sinus infection, flu, runny nose, fever, cold sores, numbness or tingling.

Why would anyone take such poison?

All prescription drugs have side effects. Did you know that prescription medicine is the third leading cause of death in the US?

I don't know about you but I would rather try the natural approach before I resort to Drugs. If that doesn't work then a drug may be necessary.

Just do a search on Natural alternatives for xxxxxx. Type your condition in place of x. Example: Natural alternatives for Arthritis. You'll find a wealth of information on remedies for your condition.

Remember you should be your own health advocate. Drugs are not always the answer.

A minor adjustment to your diet, some exercise and supplementation with vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants and you can prevent most common diseases and be a healthier, more youthful YOU.

Stay well

Beauty starts from within

Eternal Youth Without Drugs or Surgery

Hi my name is Dian and maintaining a youthful appearance and excellent health has been my passion for many years.

That’s my picture posted to the right of my blog. I am 60 years young, that’s right I did say 60. Every time I say that I get strange reactions. People always want to know why I look so young and ask how I am able to maintain a youthful appearance.

This blog is dedicated to all those women and men who want to know the secrets to staying youthful and healthy starting today.

Aside from having great genes, maintaining a youthful appearance can be easy and fun.

Outer beauty starts from within.

To have beautiful skin you must be aware of what you eat and drink. It’s not what you put on your face but what you put in your face that will determine how healthy your skin will appear to you and th outside world.

Here is an important tip for beautiful skin, Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. When I say hydrate I mean drink plenty of cold, clear WATER. You will notice that I didn’t say, Soda, Tea or other water beverages. Nothing can take the place of PURE WATER. Water flushes the body of toxins, and plumps up the skin. Every cell in our body including our brain needs water to survive.

All water is not created equal.

Drinking water from you kitchen faucet can be dangerous to your health. I drink bottled water or filtered water and I cook with filtered water. You can purchase a pitcher and filter system from most stores that sell appliance.

How much water should you drink?

You should drink at least 8 glasses per day for beautiful skin. If it is a very hot day drink more. Your skin will love you for it.

Never wash your face with soap!

If you want beautiful skin do not wash you face with soap. Soap dries delicate skin tissue. Use a face wash designed for your skin type. Follow-up with a toner for your skin type. Basic skin types are: Oily, Dry, Sensitive.

Keep Wrinkles At Bay The Easy Way

Keep Wrinkles At Bay The Easy Way

My generation, Baby Boomers, are responsible for creating the Anti-aging products boom. Growing old gracefully? No Way, we will grow old kicking and screaming... WHERE IS MY PLASTIC SURGEON, I NEED A FACE LIFT!!

We do not want to show any outward signs of aging. Anti-aging products and plastic surgery are a multi billion dollar industry and we don’t mind spending thousands of dollars to keep that youthful appearance.

But.....

What if we could turn back the hands of time by just making a few lifestyle changes?

What really causes wrinkles, I mean besides the obvious culprits: Dehydration and Too much sun.

Here are three reasons why our faces are aging before we do.

Don’t Eat That!

When we were growing up we ate wholesome foods like eggs and bacon with buttered toast for breakfast, real butter not an imitation. We had loaded baked potatoes, meatloaf with gravy and a veggie on the side for dinner. Eating satisfied our hunger and made us feel good too.

If you listen to the medical profession, (I have nothing against doctors), we must change our eating habits. We must not eat eggs, just the whites.. We must not eat meat.. Be sure to rip the skin off the chicken before you prepare it. Don’t put any salt on your food, etc, etc, etc... Unfortunately, doing what the doctor ordered is not making us healthy.

Ok, enough of that. Here is what I think. It’s worked for me all these years maybe it will work for you too.

Want great skin? Then eat what you want but don’t overindulge. Moderation Is the key. If it’s not natural, Don’t eat it and remember to hydrate. Drink cold, clear, water. Filter it.

Obsessing about aging makes you old. Stop that!

Unfortunately, aging is something we all have to do. Now I am not saying we should lay down and accept the aging process. What I am saying is we should accept that aging is a natural progression. To age well we must not obsess about it. Learn to be happy in your own skin and try the natural approach to Anti-aging. Relax, smile, and be happy. Use a good anti-aging regiment which includes Vitamins/mineral supplementation and anti-oxidants.

Stress Kills and also makes you wrinkly.

The next time you feel stress, take a look in the mirror. Notice how the stress you feel looks on your face? If you frown enough the wrinkles become permanent. We don’t want that do we?
Learn to relax. Take time out for yourself. I know, we have children and husbands to raise and some of us have jobs too but if you don’t take care of you how can you take care of them?

Take an hour a day for yourself. Take a bubble bath, do your nails, call a friend. This is called Me Time. Do it .. You deserve it.. You will be a better person for it.. Your family will love you for it.

HELP! My Face is falling..and everything else is too

Ok, you have reached that magic number where AARP says you are officially deemed “A Senior Citizen” Don’t you just hate that. When I received my notice from AARP that I am officially a member of the 50 and over club I was highly insulted. How dare they consider me a Senior Citizen, after all I still look good, feel sexy, and don’t forget 50 is the new thirty. Hmmmm that makes me.... add your new age here.

I think the age at which you become a senior should be adjusted. You should not be considered a Senior Citizen until you decide that you are. I like that better, don’t you?

Don’t get me wrong, there are some advantages to Senior Citizen status. I am guilty of receiving my share of discounted coupons for meals, trips etc. So sometimes being a senior can work to your advantage. I still don’t like the label “Senior Citizen” because it makes you feel old.

Now that I got that out of my system, let’s talk about how we can present a youthful appearance to the world from the neck up.

When was the last time you took a really good look at yourself in the mirror? Have you noticed that your face looks a little differently then it did a few years ago. Have you noticed that your facial muscles aren’t as tight as they once were? I know, I know, every thing else is falling too but lets concentrate on the face for now. Stay with me.

The face is made up of muscles just like the body. Did you know that you can exercise your face muscles? Exercising your face muscles twice a day will tighten the skin on the face as well as the neck line thus giving you that youthful look you crave.

So, how does one exercise the face muscles you ask...

Well, there is the hard way:
While standing in front of a mirror, open your mouth and eyes as wide as you can. Hold for 5 seconds. Now close your mouth and eyes really tight. Make sure to purse the lips. Repeat 10 times morning and evening before bed.

I tried that but making those funny faces just made me laugh. I found a better way. I use a device that flexes the muscles in the face and neck. It’s simple to use, it’s cheap and it does an excellent job of keeping my face and neck toned.

So order your facial flexing device right now and start exercising your face so you can have a youthful appearance from the neck up. Don’t forget, Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate with cold, clear water. The Elixir of life.

PS: If you would like to know which facial flexing device I use, email me.
